Daily Sports: Hot Dodgers Go To St. Louis
The Los Angeles Dodgers are riding high and threatening to break open the NL West, but if the Dodgers are going to keep their hot streak going, they have to take the tough road through St. Louis. ESPN’s Monday Night Baseball has a good game tonight from Busch Stadium, with the Zack Greinke-Adam Wainwright showdown keynoting TV’s daily sports schedule.
NFL preseason action is officially underway, with the completion of last night’s Dallas-Miami game to wrap up the Hall of Fame festivities in Canton. The full four-week preseason begins on Thursday, and the NFL Network continues to have training camp coverage going daily, with an 8 PM ET wrap-up for the hard-core fan.
Most sports fans probably aren’t looking for basketball, but for those that are, NBA-TV is running a lot of classic games in the coming week. The highlight of Monday is a 5 PM ET showing of the Boston Celtics clinching the 1986 NBA title with a Garden blowout of the Houston Rockets. This would be the game that produced the scene of Larry Bird on the sideline waving his towel in celebration, one that makes it onto NBA Finals montages every June.
Here at TheSportsNotebook, I’ll be doing my usual Monday podcast at 4 PM ET, over at Prime Sports Network with Greg DePalma. I anticipate we’ll have BioGenesis news to digest by that time, though as this post goes online, there’s no official word yet.
I’ll also have a column with MLB coverage focusing on the American League. We’ll look at the general state of the playoff race, including injuries and the upcoming schedules for all the contenders, and then have a more focused team feature.
