College Football Coverage: Week 7 TV Schedule

Week 7 of the college football schedule is upon us, and it’s a day marked by a big rivalry game and some opportunities for the rankings to take a little shakeup. In reviewing the 16 most noteworthy games that will come across your TV screen nationally, I realized that they were pretty well balanced by conference.

Thus, at the bottom are links to each power conference, along with the midmajors, that will provide some commentary on each of the key TV games, along with the rest of the each league’s schedule for Saturday. For those of you just after the meat-and-potatoes of what to watch on Saturday, here’s how the day breaks down…

EARLY

Oklahoma-Texas (Noon, ABC)
Missouri-Georgia (Noon, ESPN)
Indiana-Michigan State (Noon, ESPN2)
Pitt-Virginia Tech (Noon, ESPNU)
Comments: All four of these are good games. OU-Texas has the juice, but we’re waiting to see whether Missouri and Pitt can make any noise, and Michigan State-Indiana has two teams playing well.

MID-AFTERNOON

Florida-LSU (3:30 PM ET, CBS)
Northwestern-Wisconsin (3:30 PM ET, ABC/ESPN2)
Baylor-Kansas State (3:30 PM ET, Fox)
Boston College-Clemson (3:30 PM ET, ABC/ESPN2)
Oregon-Washington (4 PM ET, Fox Sports 1)
Michigan-Penn State (5 PM ET, ESPN)
Comments: I normally don’t include Fox Sports 1 on these national listings because I’m still not sure how many people get it, but that Oregon-Washington game in Seattle has the potential to be a really good one and possibly our first major shattering of the BCS landscape.

PRIME

Alabama-Kentucky (7 PM ET, ESPN2)
Georgia Tech-BYU (7 PM ET, ESPNU)
Boise State-Utah State (8 PM ET, CBS Sports Network)
Texas A&M-Ole Miss (8:30 PM ET, ESPN)
Comments: If you get past the flash of the names “Alabama” and “Johnny Football”, Boise State-Utah State will likely decide a representative in the Mountain West championship game this December.

LATE SHOW

Cal-UCLA (10:30 PM ET, ESPN2):
Oregon State-Washington State (10:30 PM ET, ESPNU)
Comments:
The Ore State-Wash State game is pretty good, but both of these are better fare if you’re at a bar, or if you’re a college student partying on Saturday night.
