Winter Update: Expanding The LCS Chronicles

We were looking forward to the upcoming college football postseason, the NFL stretch run, and all the basketball and hockey that winter brings. But as we mapped out the months ahead, it became clear that this winter offers a rare opportunity to build something lasting.

Back in October, we released a free download, The LCS Chronicles, Vol. 1 (1969–80)—a 20-page companion capturing the best of the early years of playoff baseball. The response was strong, and it confirmed something we suspected: there’s a real appetite for a fuller, deeper treatment of this era.

The current companion covers 1969–80, and the book will extend that journey through the 1984 season, adding the 1981–84 LCS years and completing the entire best-of-five era.

So this winter, rather than dividing attention across daily coverage, we’re investing fully in expanding The LCS Chronicles into a complete book.

Over the 16 seasons from 1969 through 1984, there were 125 League Championship Series games played. Our plan is to bring readers into the front row of that entire era—its great moments, unforgettable performances, and lasting legacies. Much of the research is already done, and we’re excited to spend the winter turning that material into a full narrative.

Our hope is to have the book ready around the time spring training arrives.

Where to Explore During the Hiatus

During the writing process, posting here will be paused. But there’s plenty to explore in the meantime:

As Christmas approaches—a fun and faith-filled time—I wish all of you the very best. There’s plenty of great sports ahead to enjoy, and I’ll be ravenously consuming it along with you.

Stay tuned, and you’ll be among the first to know when the expanded LCS Chronicles is ready.

Merry Christmas!
