Playoff race baseball is going full steam with a number of good games, but the highlight of Saturday’s daily sports tour has to be in Canton. Today is Induction Day, and at 7 PM ET, the NFL Network will show the ceremony inducting five new men into the Pro Football Hall Of Fame
The road doesn’t get a lot easier for the Redbirds tonight, as they face yet another contender on the road with a visit to Cincinnati, as St. Louis again leads up the daily sports TV agenda.

Wednesday is a quiet day in daily sports when it comes to finding something on TV, but it’s going to be a big day on impact, as we approach the MLB non-waiver trade deadline at 4 PM ET. And the one game on national television is a big one, as the Pittsburgh Pirates and St. Louis Cardinals play the fourth game of their five-game set from PNC Park (7 PM ET, ESPN).
The Pittsburgh Pirates cut the St. Louis Cardinals’ lead in the NL Central to a half-game last night when the Pirates won the opener of their five-game series. Now the two teams play a doubleheader on Tuesday, with MLB Network coverage of the opener kicking off a tripleheader day of baseball that makes Tuesday a good day for daily sports on TV.
ESPN must have locked tonight’s Monday Night Baseball coverage in at the start of the season, because that’s the only reason you’d choose showing the LA Angels-Texas Rangers tonight at 7 PM ET, rather than go with the opener of the St. Louis-Pittsburgh series. But even though the Angels show no signs of life, they’ll get a little national exposure in the feature game of tonight’s daily sports schedule.
The last day of the 2011 MLB season was one of the most dramatic in the history of the sport, as the wild-card races in both the American League and National League were settled in favor of teams who made big comebacks. And the two big nationally televised games that key Saturday’s daily sports agenda will wake up the echoes of that fateful night.
There’s not a lot of diversity in a sports fans’ daily sports TV choices on Wednesday, but the one option there is at least a big-time option—or at least as big-time as is possible in the month of July. It’s the Boston Red Sox and Tampa Bay Rays (7 PM ET, ESPN) as the AL East race continues to heat up on Wednesday night from Fenway Park.
The weekend in daily sports is about golf and the Red Sox-Yankees, as the British Open and baseball’s great AL East rivalry will be at the forefront of television coverage through Saturday and Sunday.
Baseball is back today, and one of the game’s historic rivalries—though admittedly one the networks have hyped to excess over the last eight years—will be on center stage in the daily sports world. It’s the New York Yankees and the Boston Red Sox meeting in Fenway Park tonight at 8 PM ET.
We’re still a day away from having regular season baseball back, as MLB extended the All-Star break to Friday as of last season. So if you want baseball today, you’ll have to settle for the minor leagues and for a movie. Actually the movie in question is big league, as MLB Network shows Bull Durham at 8 PM ET. It’s a sign of how dry the prime-time schedule is that the Kevin Costner/Susan Sarandon film is really the highlight of Thursday’s daily sports schedule.
Live events go dark for a couple days, as major league baseball action doesn’t resume until Friday. The showcase event of the daily sports docket for Wednesday is the presentation of the annual ESPY awards. ESPN will start coverage at 7 PM ET, with a two-hour buildup, and then the award show itself begins at 9 PM ET.
