We’re not far from the day when daily sports on Sunday means a tripleheader of NFL football, but for now, the prime focus is still a day-night doubleheader in baseball, with TBS and ESPN on the call. So it is again today.
If it’s Saturday in the summer that means Fox Sports is somewhere with baseball coverage, and that somewhere usually represents the highlight in the daily sports menu. Today, that somewhere is Fenway Park for the middle game of the Yankees-Red Sox series. It’s a good pitching matchup, with New York’s Hiroki Kuroda against Boston’s John Lackey, as the Yanks have no room for error and the Red Sox are trying to keep hold of the AL East.
It’s all eyes on the Boston market tonight in the world of daily sports, as the feature game in both baseball and preseason football will be in the Hub.
The Pittsburgh Pirates have gotten more TV coverage in the last three weeks than in the entire last twenty years combined. With justification of course, since is the first time the Buccos have been relevant since 1992, but it still seems strange to be regularly noting that a Pittsburgh baseball game is the highlight of TV’s daily sports options.
The St. Louis Cardinals get a second chance at this whole notion of going head-to-head with the Pittsburgh Pirates. But the Tribe is still right in the mix of the wild-card race and looks to salvage a game in tonight’s finale.
The venues of the NL Central are the focal point of Wednesday’s TV daily sports schedule, with matinee action in the afternoon and then prime-time on ESPN. Baseball fans can tune into the MLB Network at 12:30 PM ET for a getaway game between the Oakland A’s and Cincinnati Reds.
