By the late 1970s, Milwaukee had finally found its identity. The expansion struggles of the early decade gave way to excitement, swagger, and a thunderous lineup that could hit with anyone in baseball. The small market with the big bats had arrived — and for six unforgettable seasons, the Brewers thrived.

From Rebuilding to Relevance

Beginning in 1978, a young core led by Robin Yount, Paul Molitor, Cecil Cooper, Gorman Thomas, and Ben Oglivie turned County Stadium into a summer carnival. They hit home runs in bunches, played loose, and brought joy back to Wisconsin baseball. In 1981, they reached the postseason for the first time. The very next year, they hit their way to the World Series, winning some memorable games along the way.
