A Look Ahead

The Notebook will skip its usual daily report tonight, after a bad traffic jam on the Baltimore Beltway leaves me dragging in after 10:30 PM. Be back for double duty tomorrow with morning and evening reports that will complete our season-ending All-Star ballot in baseball, check out the dynamics of the SEC East and the WAC in college football, and take a look at the fortunes of Atlanta and San Diego in the NFL.

In the meantime, take a visit to Prime Sports Network's home page. The archived podcast of Greg DePalma's show today with leading New York horse jockey Javier Castellano from this afternoon is now available. Castellano is fresh off winning the $1,000,000 Travers Stakes at Saratoga on August 27 aboard Stay Thirsty, in the process beating two Triple Crown winners in Shackleford (Preakness) and Ruler On Ice (Belmont). Stay Thirsty is a major contender for Horse of the Year as Castellano prepares him for what will presumably be a Breeders Cup Classic run on November 5 at Churchill Downs (fields for the Breeders aren't set this far in advance). Castellano consistently rivals John Velazquez for the honor of top rider in New York, and his interview with Greg will be a great insight into horse racing. You know, after finally getting a chance to sit down after a long day, I'm so inspired by typing this, I think I'll tune in myself.

Everyone have a good night. I'm going to relax with some cannoli and between the rest of tonight and tomorrow morning watch the tivo'd Red Sox-Orioles game, along with NCIS and NCIS Los Angeles.
